Sibilla Aleramo
Sibilla Aleramo, pseudonym of Marta Felicina Faccio called Rina, (Alessandria 14 August 1876, Rome 13 January 1960) was an Italian writer, poet and journalist. She is remembered for her autobiographical novel Una donna, in which she depicts the female condition in Italy at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Here is one of his poems:
Ritmo (Rhythm)
Ritrovata adolescenza,
gioia del colore,
occhi verdi di sole sul greto,
scheggiato turchese immenso de l’onde,
biondezza di cirri e di rupi,
rosea gioia di tetti,
colore, ritmo,
come una bianconera rondine
l’anima ti solca.
(Rediscovered adolescence,
joy of colour,
green eyes of sunshine on the shore,
splintered turquoise immense of the waves,
blondness of cirrus and cliffs,
rosy joy of roofs,
colour, rhythm,
like a white swallow
the soul ploughs through you.)
