Amalia Guglielminetti

Amalia Guglielminetti (Turin, 4 April 1881 – Turin, 4 December 1941) was an Italian writer and poetess.

She began collaborating with the “Gazzetta del Popolo” in 1901, publishing poems in its Sunday supplement, part of which would be collected in the volume Voci di giovinezza (Voices of Youth), published in 1903.

Her most famous work is the poems of Le Vergini folli (The Mad Virgins), which were favourably received.

She had a relationship with the writer Guido Gozzano and with Pitigrilli.

An excerpt from one of her poems:

“Colei che ha gli occhi aperti ad ogni luce
e comprende ogni grazia di parola
vive di tutto ciò che la seduce.”

“She who has her eyes open to every light
and understands every grace of speech
lives by everything that seduces her.”
